Summer House Season 8, Episode 11 Preview

summer house recap

Find your Cinco de Mayo merriment at one of the spots below, or, yes, your beloved neighborhood taqueria or tavern. Lindsay later noted that Jason “needs to steer very clear” of her, but she was excited to see her pal Luke at Kyle’s birthday party. During the event, Lindsay tried to introduce Luke to Season 7 newbie Gabby Prescod, but the two were already acquainted. Eventually, Mya has a tense closed-door confrontation with her (now-ex) boyfriend in the bathroom. And even though she insists he covers his mic, production thankfully captures bits and pieces of the fall-out. She tearfully asks how he could cheat on her, and he stammers through the typical guilty, self-deprecating responses.

You’re in!

She’s in the last seat at a very crowded reunion, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s not invited back to the house next season. Danielle walks away from the fight and straight into the arms of…all the other girls in the house. Meanwhile, Lindsay plasters on a smile and acts like coldly dismissing her best friend of more than half a decade means as much as taking out the garbage.

When she starts looking for a new apartment in New York, Craig questions her choices and she is left wondering if her unwillingness to commit is going to push their relationship over the edge. Viewers will have to stay tuned to discover what happens between Gabby and Luke after the hoedown. To find out the latest on Jason’s relationship status, which involves having a “great” time with The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Gizelle Bryant, click on the post below. They agree to have a great weekend and exchange “I love you’s.” For the moment, all is forgiven. During the group’s Freaknik party, they played a game called “Never Have I Ever.” Noelle started by saying, “Never have I ever sucked” a man’s junk.

We love the antics that Summer House gives us, but we’re also all about following the newlyweds on their emotional journey. Carl is visiting his mom and stepdad, Sharon and Lou. When Carl walks in, Sharon gives him a big hug and says, “Do I have to let go? The next morning after sending Ballon Guy on his way, Danielle comes to Gabby’s room to talk. She’d better say she’s sorry, or I’m done with her.

So, What Really Caused Danielle and Lindsay’s Feud?

"After being around this group of people and getting a fresh perspective on myself, I am trying to change small aspects about how I come off," Gabby said in an interview on the May 22 episode. "So, that means giving people a chance that I might not necessarily [have] given a chance to before. I can't say that it's permanent, but it's working to this guy's benefit." The fashion editor fell in the kitchen during the safari party, but she may have fallen even harder for the new man in her life, Matt. But Carl is also right that Danielle has been vocal about their relationship, and she made it hard for him to be candid with her. He’s right, Robert’s right, Kyle and Sam and Paige and Ciara are all right. But the one person we haven’t talked about, the one person who we don’t even get to mention is Lindsay, blissed out with a heavy rock on her finger and a man by her side.

In case you need a refresher, both were asked to leave during Season 1 after making several of their castmates uncomfortable. Mariah got physical with Bria, and Phil rubbed every guy the wrong way. As Danielle is doing her best impression of a Tasmanian devil with extensions, we hear several reactions from around the house.

” Here are some of the highlights from Summer House Season 8, Episode 8. I don’t think that Danielle is wrong to be upset. They are her feelings and she should feel her feelings. What is wrong is how public she’s making them, especially at the party. Then, when it’s all calmed down, she should have sat Carl down and said, “Hey, man, I was hurt,” and heard his explanation.

Few experiences in life are as disheartening as losing one’s freedom and the ability to live on your own. Add memory loss and the challenge is even more difficult and confusing. When the time comes that moving into a Claremont dementia care facility becomes necessary, be sure to find a home that never forgets there’s a person behind the disease. Our Claremont dementia care facility provides more than just kind, compassionate care and comfortable senior living.

Picking up right where we left off last week, Amanda’s still talking about Kyle and her looking at houses outside of the city. “I’m just thinking about my future and the kids and, like, raising a family,” she says. Later in the house, Summer and Bria had another falling out after they discussed the situation from earlier. While they were talking, Shanice and Noelle were in the corner taking pictures (not paying attention to Summer or her problems).

Improve the intake and exhaust, install a stiffer cam, and a few other goodies, and you can blow past the C6 Z horsepower level. These cars have all the pluses of the before-mentioned C5, plus an overall stiffer, more rigid structure. This is thanks to the bonded and bolted-on hardtop roof.

The completed cars were then sold to privateers for around $30,000 on top of the price of the car. (We will soon be running a feature story about Dan Barr’s Corvette Challenge car in Vette Vues Magazine.) But the kicker is that they were totally street legal. From 1985 to 1987, L98 Corvettes won every race in the SCCA Showroom Stock Series and were unceremoniously kicked out! But, like all LS Corvette engines, more can be squeezed from these beautiful LS6 engines. The LS6 is essentially a hot-rodded-up version of the LS1.

So, it would be best to consider a few things when seeing a 30-year-old Corvette with very low mileage.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

By the end of the year, 6,759 cars were sold with a premium of $4,247 on top of the $18,290 base price tag. The C4 made such a big splash that the 1982 Collector Edition Corvettes were quickly forgotten. The Corvette community lionizes the classic small-block Chevy engine; it’s important to remember that the 350 L98 is just a classic SBC with a pretty good electronic fuel-injection system.

Scott Teeters’s article on the top ten under-appreciated, under-valued Corvettes to buy in his article on Which are the Best Used Corvettes to Buy. But you must love rowing and banging gears, as the LT4 was only available with the manual 6-speed transmission. So, when looking for an LT4-powered ’96 Corvette, expect to pay a little more, but only if the seller knows what they have. The LT4 option could be ordered on any 1996 Corvette Coupe or Convertible. The 1996 Grand Sport is the obvious Top Shelf last-of-the-C4 Corvettes. But if you search diligently, you can find a regular ’96 Corvette with the same engine used in the Grand Sport.

1997-2000 Corvettes

The all-new LS1 was waiting in the wings, and Chevrolet didn’t want their all-new, modern engine showing LESS power on paper than the last of Chevy’s old engine. By the end of the 1996 production run, 6,359 Corvette customers wisely checked off that “LT4” option box and got themselves a real sleeper fourth-generation Corvette. To celebrate Corvette’s 35th anniversary, a very special package was offered. White was chosen as a nod to the 1953 Corvettes. The car’s white painted wheels, black B-pillar, transparent black roof panel, and white leather interior trim made the car so distinctive. These were assembly-line-built cars that were then taken to outside vendor shops to be retrofitted with full roll-cages, lightweight Dymag wheels, and various other racing equipment.

The all-new LS1 base engine was rated at 345 horsepower, but when locked into the C5’s vastly improved structure, it did everything better. And it didn’t take long for buyers to discover that the all-new engine had LOTS of red meat that was not hard to extract from the LS1. Challenge Corvettes didn’t have much power, perhaps slightly more than the advertised 245-horsepower. But anyone that ever drove or owned one can tell you that they are hot, dirty, rough, harsh, smelly race cars.

After the two-year series was over, the cars were sold off and pretty much forgotten, especially as newer Corvettes only got better and better. Earlier in the 1990s, when the C5 was being planned, management thought a lesser-expensive, stripped version could be offered. But it turned out there wasn’t a cheaper LS engine or transaxle to use or lesser-expensive components to be substituted. As it turned out, the “cheaper” Hardtop was priced at $38,777, just $394 less than the base model coupe. The common denominator of all three of these Corvettes is that they are all very, very nice cars.

Moreover, it’s essential to recognize that older Corvettes are appreciating in value rapidly, primarily due to the soaring demand for used cars. Consequently, many are turning to the used car market, where used vehicles often command prices higher than their new counterparts. This shift has proven advantageous for those with an extra car or those willing to part with their first one.

While you are here, check out our Corvettes for Sale classified ads and find a used Corvette for sale by the owner. Raw steel surfaces begin to rust, oil gets not-so-oily, and gasoline starts forming lacquer that can seriously muck up a fuel system. Ten years of “just sitting” can turn a once-performance Corvette into a problem Corvette. Cars are “machines,” and they work best when they are used frequently, like muscles.

While prices are drifting up, they are still bargain performance cars. They respond very well to performance enhancements, are comfortable cruisers, and can get over thirty miles per gallon, thanks to the wonderful transaxle with two overdrive gears. As with previous special edition Corvettes, the engine was stock. The price was steep, $4,795, on top of the $29,489 base price. Only 2,050 35th Anniversary Corvettes were built, making them somewhat collectible. Prices for clean versions are drifting up, but as with almost all C4s, you can get one for not a lot, relatively speaking.

More severe weather expected in central U S. this week

charlotte weather radar hourly

Storms and the setup that are potent enough to produce tornadoes will also bring many incidents of large hail, high winds and torrential downpours. The downpours will also bring the risk of flash flooding to some areas that were spared in recent days. "The overall coverage of severe weather on Thursday may be more localized when compared to Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as that of this past Friday and Saturday," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Benz said. The storms are likely to produce episodes of hail and strong winds. Charlotte, North Carolina gets 43 inches of rain, on average, per year.

‘Gunfire galore’: Officers used witness’s home during east Charlotte shootout

(WBTV) - A neighbor said dozens of law enforcement officers used his home and backyard in a shootout that happened Monday afternoon in an east Charlotte neighborhood. Charlotte gets some kind of precipitation, on average, 105 days per year. Precipitation is rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. In order for precipitation to be counted you have to get at least .01 inches on the ground to measure. The swath of severe weather at risk Wednesday will be nearly identical to that of Tuesday and will extend from Nebraska and Iowa southward 900 miles to near the Big Bend area of the Rio Grande River in Texas.

Interfaith prayer vigil held Tuesday in east Charlotte for fallen officers

The vigil comes on the heels of the deadly shootout between law enforcement officers and a man they were trying to arrest. Four officers were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the suspect and four others were wounded. The suspect, who was being served a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, was also killed. We recognize our responsibility to use data and technology for good. Officers ordered Wilson and two others in the home to hide in a back room as the gunfire was ongoing. At around 4 p.m., Wilson said it had been largely quiet for the past hour. At quarter of 5 p.m., however, Wilson said he heard additional shots and officers walking around in his backyard. Wilson described the scene as “gunfire galore,” with officers army-crawling through his backyard, hiding behind trees, and jumping around bushes.

Detailed Hourly Forecast — Next 24 hours

The atmosphere was reloading Monday as the last gasp of thunderstorms pushed along the central Gulf Coast region with flooding downpours and gusty winds. Since Sunday, the group of storms has been responsible for 4-10 inches of rain and flash flooding in parts of Texas and Louisiana. Sadly, several people were killed, including an infant, in the violent storms and tornadoes from Friday to Sunday. Close to 1,000 incidents of severe weather occurred, including more than 125 tornadoes. Severe weather and the likelihood of more tornadoes will return to the central United States, spanning Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.

That complex was located about a mile from where Monday's shooting unfolded. — As east Charlotte continues to reckon with Monday's deadly shooting along Galway Avenue, three community groups offered a chance for neighbors to join together with a prayer vigil. "We could be looking at more than a dozen tornadoes Wednesday in portions of the central and southern Plains," Rayno said. East Charlotte has historically struggled with upward mobility. While this incident is isolated, recent crime has caught people's attention. Monday's tragedy happened just more than 17 years after two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers died in the line of duty. The March 31, 2007 shooting claimed the lives of officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark while they tried to respond to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex.

Many people confuse weather and climate but they are different. Weather is the conditions of the atmosphere over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere is over long periods of time. Wilson said the people who lived in the home involved in the incident had lived there for “a year and change” but otherwise didn’t know them. They occasionally had backyard parties, Wilson said. You are about to report this weather station for bad data.

The overall threat of severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening will extend as far to the south as west-central Texas. "This storm will bring a reprise of severe weather, mainly in the form of high winds and hail, but also the potential for tornadoes in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa on Tuesday afternoon and evening," Rayno said. Omaha, Nebraska, may be in the middle of the threat zone. Many of the same areas that were rocked and devastated by severe weather and flash flooding in recent days may be hit again or at least under the threat of severe weather, including tornadoes. The threat of severe weather will continue from the second storm system Thursday. The threat zone will encompass much of the same areas as Tuesday and Wednesday but also extend farther to the east -- near the Mississippi River and east of the Mississippi in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Please select the information that is incorrect. On average, there are 218 sunny days per year in Charlotte. Small streams and rivers surged to moderate to major flood stage as a result of rounds of heavy rain in recent days. The rainfall will result in the middle segment of the Mississippi River, reaching a minor flood stage in some areas. "Two more storm systems will affect the Central states this week," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.

Along with the tornado threat, storms will pack high winds, large hail, and torrential rain that can aggravate or initiate flooding problems. Live on WBTV, Tyler Wilson described officers streaming into his home, including one officer Wilson said appeared to be a sniper using his window during an active shootout Monday afternoon. His backyard is adjacent to the backyard of the one involved in the incident, Wilson said.

In spite of this being a “prefab” job, Beachy Barns was able to customize from the original design to fit their exact needs. Of course, these are not the only expenses that you will have when finishing your pool house shed. You will also need to pay to install a shed base, acquire needed permits, as well as any interior upgrades that you plan on installing in your prefab pool house. But the bottom line remains, that a prefab pool house can be an extremely affordable option with plenty of room for customization.

Traveling up and down from pool house to home can be tiresome for people staying with you. The pearl pigments are what makes your skin look radiant, and the result is healthier-looking skin. Like Flawless Filter, the primer is also lightweight and can work with different foundation formulas. I think Glowy Super Gel blends more effortlessly than Flawless Filter, thanks to it being so lightweight.

You can also use Flawless Filter as a primer underneath foundation. It wore well for eight and a half hours as a standalone highlighter, and it applied well over bare skin or layered on top of foundation. As a primer, it helped my base apply more evenly and gave a softly luminous finish (along with noticeable depth and warmth, which wouldn’t be apparent for a medium to tan skin tone). It didn’t extend nor shorten the wear of my base when I used it as a primer or mixed in with foundation, though it did not claim to improve longevity. I love how lightweight the formula is, and it never weighs me down or makes me feel like I'm wearing makeup.

While I think this luminizer is more on the glittery side, it’s perfect for those who want a serious glow. The title says it’s a liquid luminizer, I describe the texture as more of a gel. It still dries quickly and doesn’t feel sticky, so it works for a variety of skin tones. It had the same fluid, lightweight, thinner gel-like texture as the other shades in the range, and the same buildable coverage that went from sheer to medium depending on application and placement. If this was an actual foundation, I wouldn’t have tested the shade, but since it can be used as a highlighter as well, I did want to give it a good try. Et voilà, you’ve achieved a dewy, natural radiance with ease.

Face Primer / Yves Saint Laurent

The powder disguises these imperfections better since the liquid formula can cause oil breakouts and crease into textured skin. While these shades target all skin tones, I wish e.l.f. offered more shades–especially since this is such a popular foundation. I also find this glow booster is more shimmery than Flawless Filter, thanks to the finely milled powder. But if that’s the look you’re going for, you’ll be more pleased with e.l.f.’s Liquid Filter than Flawless Filter. Since Flawless Filter is a liquid formula, I prioritized other liquid and even cream products.

For example, if you’re applying a powder illuminator, you’ll want to use a powder brush and sweep the product over your cheeks, chin, and forehead. There are plenty of foundations that have a glowing finish and are available in multiple coverage options. If you see yourself wearing Flawless Filter as a primer, there are illuminating primers out there that give the same glowing finish. First, what exactly is Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter? Bismuth Oxychloride has been around since the 1950s and it was one of the first synthetic materials to give a pearl-like effect in cosmetic products. It is a white powder with a fabulous sheen and a nice skin feel and it is still very popular in decorative cosmetics.

I suggest using this product if you want to give your skin an irresistible glow and want something that will mix perfectly with your foundation. The best way to apply liquid formulas, like Flawless Filter, is with a foundation brush or Beauty Blender (or similar sponges). But with different formulas comes different application methods.

They are found in trace amounts and are not known to be harmful. Squalane comes from squalene, which occurs naturally within the sebum of our skin. It is one of the oils our skin produces to keep itself hydrated. Squalane is the hydrogenated version of squalene and has a longer shelf life.

It seems to us that squalane is in fashion and there is a reason for it. Chemically speaking, it is a saturated  (no double bonds) hydrocarbon (a molecule consisting only of carbon and hydrogen), meaning that it's a nice and stable oily liquid with a long shelf life. View our wide selection of solar panel equipment on Renogy store now. Below are answers to homeowners’ common questions about understanding and managing household electricity usage. Our kWh calculator provides a rough monthly usage estimate based on your home details. This gives you a starting point for picking an electricity plan. Considering the average house only requires 1,223 watts of power to run, there’s a good chance 10,000 watts will easily power your home.

Do Gaming PCs Use a Lot of Electricity?

No other energy site has covered the root issues as long as EcoWatch, which means we have more data and insider information than other sites. By aligning the use of artificial intelligence and energy efficiency goals, you can reduce operating cost. Put an end to this waste by unplugging your electronics when not in use. While “sleep” or “standby” mode is convenient, you pay for it through a higher power bill. This is an especially important tip for saving energy if you are working from home.

Switching to CFLs in the five most frequently used fixtures in your house will save about $60 per year, according to Energy Star. CFL bulbs will provide 10,000 hours of light and use $10.40 of electricity (at eight cents per kilowatt hour). To get the same output with incandescents, you would have to use seven bulbs, which would cost less up front, but the electricity would cost $48. However, determining your own solar power system involves having a basic understanding of electricity, components that are needed for a solar power system, wiring and fusing, etc.

Adjust Your Energy Usage Habits.

Finally, energy-efficient lights like LED bulbs consume less energy and will bring your consumption down. Simple things like turning the lights off when you leave a room, running fewer loads of laundry and ending energy-wasting habits all will reduce the average power consumption of a house. The energy consumption of streaming devices is substantial, along with gaming console energy consumption. Both add considerably to your overall home power usage.Turn them off to help save energy.

More importantly, ensure that your heating system is properly maintained and running as efficiently as possible via regular maintenance and servicing. More appliances mean you'll need more watts, but the type of appliances you have also impacts how much electricity you use. Additionally, using more efficient Energy Star appliances can reduce your overall usage, especially for more power-hungry items like refrigerators, air conditioners, and dryers.

Do Dishwashers Use a Lot of Electricity?

However, in real-world conditions, they usually only produce 200 to 300 watts per square meter. Most residential solar panels produce between 1 and 3 kilowatts (kW) of power. That might not sound like much, but it’s enough to power a small home or business. Most phantom loads will increase the appliance's energy consumption a few watt-hours, and you can use a monitor to estimate those too. These loads can be avoided by unplugging the appliance or using a power strip and using the switch on the power strip to cut all power to the appliance.

It should come as no surprise to most people that the United States as a country is the world’s biggest electricity consumer when it comes to energy use per capita. Energy Information Administration, the average U.S. residential customer uses approximately 909 kWh per month of energy, or around 10,909 kWh per year. However, don't expect your one- or two-bedroom apartment to use half as much energy as the "average" household above, just because it's half the size or has half as many people living there. It is important to know how many kWh per day is normal for your home’s size and how much energy your specific home uses.

Choose the Right Plan to Save

If you have a grid-tied system, you can use the energy stored in your solar batteries to power your home during high electricity rates, helping you save more money. You can add a solar battery during your initial installation or later on. Panel size and the cells’ efficiency determine the power ratings. For example, a standard solar panel may be rated at 200 watts, while a more efficient panel may be rated at 400 watts. Monocrystalline (mono) solar panels have higher efficiency and energy output.

how many kilowatts does a house use

The average house typically requires between 100 to 200 amps of electrical power, depending on the size and number of electrical devices used. There are numerous things that drive these differences, including wealth, physical house size, appliance standards, electricity prices and access to alternative cooking, heating and cooling fuels. Across the countries we chose to compare household electricity use varies enormously. The average American or Canadian household in 2010 used about twenty times more than the typical Nigerian household, and two to three times more than a typical European home. We also used the total number of US residential units, which according to estimates using the latest census figures are 143,786,655. If you are concerned about your home’s energy usage, you can unplug your electronics when not used.

Dehumidifiers will consume far more energy in areas where humidity is higher. They will also use more electricity if they need to run year-round, like in areas that remain warm and humid throughout all seasons. On average, residents in the East South Central region of the United States, including Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee, use the most electricity.

TVs consume anywhere from a penny to five cents an hour to run, depending on the type of TV, according to the appliance energy use chart. Depending on the water temperature, a clothes washing machine will use between 2.3 kWh per load and 6.3 kWh. That equates to between 25 and 69 cents a load, according to the appliance energy use chart. Save yourself from a potential laundry room flood and a flood of money spent on repairs by adding this to your laundry room.

ComparePower allows you to see pricing from providers based on your exact usage, ensuring you find the cheapest electricity plan for powering your home. Washing machines and dryers pull significant energy when they're being used, but your usage schedule will heavily affect the actual impact these appliances have on your monthly bill. The size of the generator you’ll need will depend on how many watts you use in your household.

When I’m not crunching carbon footprints you’ll often find me helping my two year old son tend to the tomatoes, salad and peppers growing in our upcycled greenhouse. While the US and Canada are up around 4,500 kWh per person the UK and Germany are below 2,000 kWh. In Brazil, Mexico and China per person use is just 500 kWh, but growth is very different. In Brazil residential use per person has been stable over the last 20 years, whereas in Mexico it is up 50% and in China it has increased 600%.

How Many Kilowatt Hours Does It Take to Power Your House?

UK household electricity use has been dropping over the last few years1, largely because we have more energy-efficient appliances. Smaller houses, better-insulation and warmer winters also play a role. According to the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the average household uses 3,509 kWh per year2. At Renogy, we pride ourselves on designing, building, and supplying the best solar equipment that we can. You can find our award-winning products in RVs, vans, houses, cabins, remote equipment installations, and so much more. Do Pool Pumps Use a Lot of Electricity?

This way, your panels can produce enough power most days of the year, even when your energy consumption is high. It’s important to know how much power your solar panels produce so that you can properly size your system. The amount of power a solar panel generates depends on its type, efficiency, and the angle at which it’s installed. Experienced solar installations will build a solar panel system that aligns with your typical energy usage. Even if your system is slightly overpowered, you can use solar batteries to save energy for later use.

Finally, dishwashers that have a heat option to dry the dishes tend to use more energy than those that only have an air-dry option. Larger televisions will naturally consume more power than smaller ones, and high-definition TVs and OLED TVs will draw more power than less-advanced models. It’s also important to remember that smart TVs continuously connect to the internet and run software updates, so they consume more power than TVs that don’t connect to the internet. TVs draw power when they are turned off, and although the draw is significantly less than when they’re turned on, they will still contribute to your utility bills. Now that you have a handle on how many kWh does a house use and how your own average kWh usage per month compares, you are ready to put ways to save energy in your home into action. How much energy does your home use vs. the average kWh usage per day for the average home?

How Much Electricity Does a TV Use?

Yes, pool pumps consume more electricity in a year than any other common household appliance. Not only do they use more energy overall, but they also run for just five months of the year on average, meaning the per-hour amount of electricity used is also extremely high. Homes with more residents will naturally use more hot water for washing and bathing, so energy consumption will increase with the number of people in your home. Water heaters also work harder when incoming water is colder, so your consumption will be higher if you live in a colder climate than it would in a hot climate. The average shower length can also affect how much energy your tankless water heater uses. This is lower than many household appliances, but they’re also used for longer than many appliances per day.

An example of a state with high energy usage is Louisiana, where residential homes use an average of about 1,192 kWh of electricity per month. Louisiana’s hot summers cause homeowners to crank the air conditioning, eating up a bunch of electricity. It’s tricky to be precise with daily usage, because it depends on various factors – such as whether it’s midweek or weekend, how many people live at home, and the number of appliances in use, etc. Darker, colder months mean higher energy bills than in summer, for example.

The Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) accounts for household-level electricity end use, which includes electricity sales and consumption from on-site PV systems. An improperly sized solar panel system (or any power system) compromises your home's efficiency, which can result in unnecessary energy consumption, higher utility bills, or even power outages. Understanding your home's power requirements helps you to take full advantage of things like your solar system, HVAC, or portable generator. In this article, we break down the typical energy use of different electrical appliances to help you determine the number of watts your whole house might require. For the average household electricity use across the US we use the rolling updated 12 months electricity use published by the EIA, which means the data is very fresh, only about 3 months behind. Therefore, if its July right now, the data shows the 12 month electricity consumption up until Apr only 3 months ago.

Save on electricity by going solar

Energy usage can vary widely from state to state for various reasons, from local climates to average house size. According to the Energy Saving Trust, an average home can spend £35 a year, just by leaving appliances on standby. To find out more about how you can benefit from a dual fuel tariff, or get the low-down on all the various other types of energy tariffs, check out our handy guides. And for more detailed info on average UK electricity and gas bills, this is the guide for you. Ofgem, the UK’s energy regulator, has produced the following Typical Domestic Consumption Values (TDCVs)for 2023. These estimates show how much electricity a UK home uses in average a year.

How much does it cost to run a tumble-dryer?

To estimate your specific home’s usage more accurately, use an online kWh calculator. Input details like square footage, occupancy, and energy behaviors. Letting your energy contract expire instead of switching can be costly, but changing electricity providers is easy. If you’re looking to purchase a generator to power your home, determining the number of watts the generator will need to run all your appliances can be a daunting task.

Do Window AC Units Use a Lot of Electricity?

Efficiency indicates the amount of sunlight your panels can absorb and convert to solar energy. The higher a panel’s efficiency rating, the better its power production. Monocrystalline panels have high efficiency ratings of 15% to 21%. The electric current is converted from direct current (DC) energy by the panels to alternating current (AC) energy by the solar inverter. The converted electricity moves to your electrical panel and to your outlets. The current’s strength depends on the sun’s intensity and the solar panel’s size.

This is  when most people are cooking dinner, switching on lights, watching TV, and using various appliances around the home. Again, it’s based on the size of the house, number of occupants, insulation levels, and even bill payment methods. Paying by Direct Debit, for example, is cheaper than paying by prepayment meter.

ENERGY STAR is a U.S. government-backed system that certifies how energy-efficient appliances are. Appliances with a better-than-average performance and that meet the criteria in their category are labeled "ENERGY STAR certified". ENERGY STAR appliances cost less money to run, given that they are more efficient with the electricity they use.

For example, when designing a solar panel system for your home, it is important to know how much electricity your house uses. Larger appliances like air conditioners and heaters consume more power, increasing a home’s overall power requirements. Our household electricity use has been 2,000 kWh each of the last few years, which means it is about 700 kWh per person. We benefit from not using electricity for heating or cooling, although our electric oven is a big source of demand.

how many kilowatts does a house use

The auditor will check your windows and walls to determine if there’s anywhere temperature regulated air from inside the house could be leaking out. As you can see, the normal kWh daily power usage for US households ranges between about 20 and 40 kWh per day. 50 kWh per day, for example, is an-above average daily kWh home usage. To find the monthly kWh usage you would use this formula for every appliance in your house that uses electricity like your refrigerator, microwave, washer and dryer, AC unit, heater, etc. No matter how well you plan and how much energy you save, sometimes the weather will win. If it’s the middle of summer in a heat wave, your AC will have to work overtime to keep your house cool.

According to the energy use chart, a laptop computer typically uses 50 watts and will cost less than a penny an hour to run. The power needs of a house at any instant then is on average 1.2 – 2.3 kilowatts. Tankless water heaters have been around most residential homes for a while now. That is why it is wise to minimize appliance usage wherever possible. Census data, the average size of a single-family home is 2,261 square feet.

Passports for Cruises

do you need passport to go on cruise

Note that the birth certificate can’t be the cute one with the baby’s footprints issued by the hospital; it needs to be issued by the Vital Records Department in the state where the child was born. Again, you could board the ship with an enhanced driver’s license or a valid government-issued photo identification and a birth certificate. This ensures that the name on the ticket matches the person boarding the ship. On the other hand, if you are boarding a domestic cruise in a country where you do not hold citizenship, you will need to bring your passport. Before we go further, let's clarify that when we talk about cruising without a passport, we're referring to pricey passport books that some travelers do not wish to purchase.

Visa Requirements for Nicaragua

Carnival’s six-day Bermuda from Norfolk cruise spends two days at sea and three days in Bermuda. Bermuda Bliss, a seven-day Oceana cruise from New York City, visits Hamilton and St. George in Bermuda and includes two days at sea. Norwegian Cruise Line offers a seven-day cruise from Seattle aboard Norwegian Bliss with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay, and Victoria before returning to Seattle. Holland America Line’s seven-day Alaskan Explorer departs from Seattle and cruises the Puget Sound and Stephens Passage. A passport necklace is similar, but is worn around your neck and inside your shirt instead. You have options to cruise without a passport because not every sailing requires them. That being said, we always recommend bringing a valid passport book on your cruise. In case there are any unforeseen inconveniences, a passport book will always work as a valid travel document via air, land, and sea.

On These Cruises, You Don’t Need a Passport

Also, contact the guest relations department on your cruise ship so they can provide guidance on how to handle the rest of your cruise before you get your replacement passport. The most popular way to keep your passport safe while on a cruise is to store it inside a money belt or passport necklace. A money belt is a soft pouch with a zipper that can fit your passport, some cash, and a couple of credit cards. The pouch is connected to a belt that sits comfortably around your waist. If children under the age of 16 are traveling internationally by air, they will need a valid U.S. passport.

Figuring out if you need a passport to go on a cruise isn’t quite as straightforward as you might think. The answer largely depends on the destination of your cruise, which port you’re embarking and disembarking from, and which forms of ID you already have. In order to sail, a guest must meet the requirements of ONE of the check boxes below.

Visa Requirements for Indonesia

Most of these cruises don't work because they also include stops in French Polynesia, which is outside of the WHTI agreement. Passports are required for the islands in the South Pacific, which means they're required for the entire cruise. If you’re traveling on a closed-loop cruise to Alaska that starts and ends in the same U.S. port, you can travel with a passport card or a state-issued ID (such as a driver’s license) and an original birth certificate.

Documents needed for cruisers to board a ship

Far too many travelers overlook the expiration date on their passports, which can result in a complete disaster when they arrive to start their vacation. As an extra precaution, most countries will require travelers to have a passport valid for at least six months after the planned return date, which you should keep in mind. You may need to start the passport renewal process and get a new passport a few months before the expiration date. Aside from remembering to bring a passport or passport card for yourself and any children in your care, you also need to make sure that those pieces of identification have a valid expiration date.

Royal Caribbean’s seven-night Southern Caribbean Holiday cruise embarks in San Juan and visits Barbados, Trinidad, Tobago, St. Vincent, and St. Maarten. Disney Cruise Line offers a three-night Bahamian cruise from Port Canaveral aboard the spectacular Disney Wish with a day in Nassau and a day at Disney Castaway Cay before returning to Port Canaveral. Traveling with a passport cover is also wise since it helps to keep your passport in pristine condition. Although you should always take steps to protect your personal documents and only take them out with you when necessary, you also want to be prepared in case your wallet or passport is stolen or misplaced. Having these easily accessible ensures you'll know what to do if you have an emergency, lose your passport or find a hold on your travel funds.

It also requires a government-issued driver's license or a photo ID with your name and date of birth. Be aware that requirements on closed-loop cruises can still change in certain countries, so be sure to check the entry requirements of the specific cruise ports on your itinerary. Some Caribbean nations still require passports or passport cards, like Martinique and Guadeloupe. For cruises that visit Turkey as a port of call, a visa is not required for any nationality.

Long known for delightful strands of beach and access to every imaginable form of water fun under the subtropical sun, the Bahamas are the ideal destination for easy and quick cruise vacations.
